In accordance to the requirements of the MOE and Arabic being the language of communication in Qatar, at Al Madina Kindergarten we believe that learning the Arabic language is a very important skill which will help develop and widen the child’s abilities.
We pride ourselves on providing opportunities for active learning through play, experiential learning, story and as children develop, through more structured activities which are relevant and realistic, to acquire sufficient familiarity with Arabic to encourage children to develop further language learning skills for life.

Our aim is to develop children’s confidence and competence to understand and use Arabic to express their feelings, thoughts and imagination.

We aim to ensure they acquire positive attitudes toward Arabic and bilingualism and that this promotes tolerance to other cultures and other languages.

At Al Madina we want all children to be able to speak and communicate in Arabic fluently both in reading and writing

The aims of the Arabic Curriculum

  • To understand Islam as a way of life
  • Stimulate children’s curiosity, interest and enjoyment to encourage feelings of belonging and a sense of heritage, roots and community
  • Support and encourage children to gain bilingual competence (through oral, reading and writing), taking account of age and ability
  • To develop knowledge and understanding of all areas of the Islamic faith including exploring verses of the Quran and the sayings of the Prophet Mohammad ( Peace be upon him)
  • To give pupils a clear, thorough understanding of Islamic teachings, moral behaviour and Islamic etiquettes
  • To develop respect for religious and moral values and tolerance of other races, religions and ways of life
  • Support an understanding of the Arabic culture, and promote better understanding of others
  • To help pupils develop lively enquiring minds, the ability to question and argue rationally and to apply themselves to tasks and physical skills
  • To help pupils develop knowledge and skills relevant to adult life and employment in a fast-changing world
  • To provide an academic and personal challenge in all Arabic lessons for all pupils
  • To recognize achievement and effort in all activities
  • To provide links with the wider-world community

  • Teaching and Learning

    Using the curriculum provided by the Ministeryof Education of Qatar as a foundation, the teacher is free to be creative and present the subject in an interesting way and we require teachers to find ways to encourage the student to love and appreciate the native language of Qatar. Arabic lessons will be for 40 minutes daily.

    Through the progressive development of children’s skills in oral (speaking and listening), reading and writing, and with positive encouragement from other children and adults around them, children are encouraged to communicate in Arabic as a natural part of their learning, during all Arabic and non-Arabic lesson in order to pick up the language skills quicker.

    Reading is considered important to enhance fluency of reading skills and enhance vocabulary. Reading books will give on a regular basis and parents are expected to read regularly with their children.

    Development and Abilities

    All lessons will be taught in mixed ability classes.

    Work and activities are differentiated to meet the different learning needs and styles of the children. This differentiated work allows children to access the Arabic curriculum at the appropriate level and encompasses children that are experiencing difficulties and those that require extension work. Work is planned, delivered with continual assessment used to inform future planning.

    The Curriculum is enriched by a wide range of visits arranged for each of the year groups

    Al Madina International Kindergarten Arabic Department will use the curriculum provided by the Ministery of Education of Qatar as a foundation for planning but enhances this curriculum with best practice from other leading learning environments. This allows the teacher to plan exciting lessons that meets the needs of all children.
